Peter Sproston studied the piano with Alexander Youngman in Rugby and Kurt Neumüller in Salzburg. He has wide experience as an accompanist and in chamber music and has appeared three times in Hull with the Allegri String Quartet. He regularly accompanies soloists in recital throughout the UK.
Peter has performed piano concertos by Beethoven and Mozart in Newcastle and in Hull, and has played orchestral piano parts in major twentieth-century works including Stravinsky's Symphony in Three Movements and Symphony of Psalms, Orff’s Carmina Burana, Mahler’s Eighth Symphony and (under Pierre Boulez at student summer schools in Bayreuth), Bartók's Music for Strings, Percussion and Celeste, Stravinsky's Les Noces and Berg's Altenberg Songs.
Amy Butler began learning the piano at the age of five, studying with Diana Bushby and with British concert pianist Martin Roscoe. After gaining her ABRSM Performance Diploma she studied for four years at Lady Margaret Hall, Oxford, where she won a choral scholarship and took part in many university recitals. She graduated in 2009 with a first class degree.
Amy enjoys an active performing career across the country as a soloist, accompanist and ensemble pianist. She has performed at numerous venues including Hull City Hall, Southwell Minster, Wakefield and Ripon Cathedrals, Christ Church Southport, Holy Trinity Hull, Beverley Minster, Bourneville Concert Series and Doncaster Museum & Art Gallery.
Amy especially enjoys working with other musicians; some of her regular duo partners include flautist Chris Hill, tenor Steven Goulden and pianist Peter Sproston. She is a staff pianist for the East Riding Schools' Music Service, working with music students from all over the county, and regular accompanist for the Beverley Male Voice Choir and Snaith & District Choral Society.
